Washington, USA – Web Desk: US President Donald Trump said member states of the newly formed “Board of Peace” have pledged to deploy thousands of personnel for an international stabilisation force in Gaza, as part of post-conflict security and reconstruction efforts.
In a statement posted on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump said the official announcement would be made at the Board of Peace meeting scheduled for February 19 in Washington, to be held at the Trump Peace Institute. He added that participating countries had committed more than $5 billion in funding for humanitarian assistance and reconstruction in Gaza.
Trump said the stabilisation force would work alongside local police to maintain security and stability in the enclave following the ceasefire. He also reiterated that Hamas must adhere to a commitment to full and immediate disarmament, calling it a key condition for lasting peace.
The US president described the Board of Peace as a potentially historic international institution and said leading the initiative was an honour.
According to Pakistan’s Foreign Office, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will attend the upcoming meeting, accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.
The establishment of an international stabilisation force in Gaza was approved under a United Nations Security Council resolution following the ceasefire, while the Board of Peace was formally created last month to oversee post-conflict stabilisation and reconstruction initiatives.
