Trump Says Iran Operation Will Continue Until Objectives Achieved Amid Escalating Tensions

Date:

US President Donald Trump has stated that military operations in Iran will continue “until all objectives are achieved,” signalling an ongoing escalation of hostilities between Washington and Tehran.

In a video address, Trump confirmed that combat operations remain active and warned that further US casualties were possible. “Sadly there will likely be more,” he said, adding that the United States would retaliate against those responsible. “America will avenge their deaths and deliver the most punishing blow to the enemies who have waged war against civilisation.”

Trump urged members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and Iranian security forces to surrender, offering immunity in exchange for laying down arms. Otherwise, he warned, they would face severe consequences.

The US president also reiterated calls for political change in Iran, appealing directly to the Iranian population. “I call upon all Iranian patriots who yearn for freedom to seize this moment… take back your country. America is with you,” he said.

Earlier remarks suggested that Iranian officials had expressed interest in renewed dialogue following US strikes on military targets. Trump indicated willingness to engage in talks but provided no details regarding timing or participants.

The developments coincide with reports of significant damage to Iranian naval assets and leadership structures. Trump claimed US forces had destroyed portions of Iran’s naval capabilities, though these assertions have not been independently verified.

In Tehran, a temporary leadership council headed by Masoud Pezeshkian reportedly assumed certain state functions following the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Iranian authorities have not confirmed all details of the leadership transition.

Analysts warn that the combination of military escalation and tentative diplomatic signals creates a highly volatile environment. Regional governments and international organisations continue to urge restraint and dialogue to prevent further destabilisation.
