US President Donald Trump praised Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi during a meeting at the White House, describing him as “a good leader” and expressing confidence in his leadership.
Washington, United States – Web Desk: Speaking after the meeting, Trump said Al-Zaidi had delivered strong results in a short period and predicted that he would remain in office for a long time.
Trump also announced plans to strengthen the strategic partnership between the United States and Iraq, saying major US oil companies would soon expand their operations in Iraq. He added that the United States would support Iraq if security assistance were needed.
Prime Minister Al-Zaidi, meanwhile, said his government was committed to ensuring that only the Iraqi state would hold the monopoly on the use of force.
He stated that no political party or armed group would be permitted to possess weapons outside the authority of the Iraqi armed forces, adding that Iraq wanted to focus on the future rather than the past.
The meeting underscored ongoing discussions on bilateral cooperation, energy investment, and regional security between Washington and Baghdad.
