WASHINGTON – Web Desk: US President Donald Trump has outlined key details of the proposed agreement with Iran, stating that under the new deal, Iran will only be allowed low-level uranium enrichment that cannot be used for military purposes under any circumstances.
In an interview with the New York Times, Trump said Iran would be permitted to enrich uranium only for non-military purposes, with restrictions that would be permanent in nature. When asked whether this limit would match the 3.67% enrichment level set in former President Barack Obama’s nuclear deal, Trump declined to specify a rate, simply stating that Iran would be allowed enrichment only for peaceful purposes.
Trump also stated that if the Iranian government takes harsh action against anti-government protesters or kills them in the future, Iran would not be able to obtain full sanctions relief — though sources indicate this condition is not formally part of the proposed MOU.
The President criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calling him a “very difficult man” who should be grateful to the US. He claimed that Israeli attacks in Lebanon damaged the diplomatic process with Iran and created obstacles in the final stages of the agreement. Trump warned that if a final agreement on Iran’s nuclear program is not reached, the US could return to military action.
