Washington, U.S. – Web Desk: U.S. President Donald Trump stated that eliminating the nuclear threat from Iran was essential but emphasized that the United States is not yet ready to withdraw from the Middle East. Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump highlighted that while the U.S. received strong support from regional allies, NATO and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer did not fully back Washington’s efforts.
Trump noted that the British Prime Minister later offered to send two aircraft carriers after U.S. successes, adding that while he personally respects Starmer, he felt disappointed by the initial lack of cooperation.
Regarding Iran, Trump said, “Every country recognized the magnitude of the threat. It was critical to neutralize the nuclear risk. We are not leaving the region yet, though a withdrawal is planned soon.”
On NATO, Trump criticized the alliance, calling its approach a “foolish mistake,” and insisted the U.S. did not require NATO’s help but felt the alliance should have been present in the region.
Trump also commented on the resignation of U.S. National Counterterrorism Director Joe Kent, stating that he always considered Kent a good person but felt Kent was weak on security issues. He welcomed Kent’s departure after reviewing his statements.
Trump’s remarks come amid ongoing debates over U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East and the balance between military presence, alliances, and diplomacy with Iran.
