Washington, D.C., United States – Web Desk: Donald Trump has claimed that a change in leadership has taken place in Iran, stating that the United States is now negotiating with “new individuals.”
In a statement, Trump said it would soon become clear whether Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf is willing to engage with Washington, adding that clarity could emerge within a week.
Trump further asserted that the new leadership in Iran appears to be “more reasonable” compared to previous officials. However, his claims regarding a leadership change have not been independently verified.
Referring to Iran’s supreme leadership, Trump said there has been little public information about the country’s new supreme leader. He added that, in his view, Mojtaba Khamenei is alive but reportedly in poor health.
The US leader also issued a stark warning, stating that if no agreement is reached and the Strait of Hormuz is not reopened soon, the United States could target Iran’s critical infrastructure, including power plants, oil fields, and water treatment facilities—sites he claimed had so far been deliberately avoided.
The remarks come amid heightened tensions in the Middle East and ongoing uncertainty over diplomatic efforts between Washington and Tehran.
