Karachi East (Report by Nawab Ali Bughio): The Sindh Sports and Youth Affairs Department organized its annual Malakhra wrestling festival at Sachal Goth Ground, Safora Town, celebrating Sindh’s rich cultural heritage. Renowned wrestlers from across Sindh’s districts participated in the traditional sport.
Special guests included UC Chairman Taj Muhammad Wassan, PPP leader Hussain Bux Narejo, Ismail Shah, Wahab Soomro, and other notable figures. A large number of local political, social, academic personalities and residents attended the event with enthusiasm.
Guests were honored with Ajrak, a symbol of Sindhi culture. The wrestlers delivered thrilling performances, earning applause from the crowd.
Speaking to journalists, community leaders expressed gratitude to Sindh’s Sports Minister Sardar Muhammad Bux Khan Mahar and Secretary Munawar Ali Mahesar for reviving this historic sport. They emphasized that Malakhra remains a cherished tradition, especially in areas like Sachal Goth where locals still passionately support it.
