Total Power Outage in Iraq Sparks Fear; US Urges Citizens to Evacuate

Date:

Baghdad, Iraq – Web Desk: Iraq is facing a nationwide electricity blackout, plunging the country into darkness and causing widespread panic, according to the Iraqi News Agency (INA). The Ministry of Electricity reported that the power grid across all provinces has gone offline.

Restoration efforts are underway, but officials warned that full recovery may take time. The cause of the blackout remains under investigation.

Amid heightened regional tensions following U.S. strikes on Iran, the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad has advised all American citizens in Iraq to leave the country immediately if possible or seek safe shelter until conditions allow safe departure.

This comes after Iran targeted U.S. military facilities in the Gulf, resulting in confirmed Pentagon reports of four American casualties. The evacuation order follows global directives urging U.S. citizens to exercise extreme caution in the region.
