Kabul, Afghanistan — Web Desk: Several officials linked to the Taliban have reportedly left Kabul by helicopter amid fears of possible retaliatory strikes by Pakistan, according to Afghan media reports.
Sources cited by Afghan outlets said that multiple Taliban officials traveled to Ghor Province on Saturday morning using at least four helicopters. The move was reportedly taken due to concerns about potential Pakistani air operations targeting militant groups operating across the border.
Afghan media said photographs circulating online show helicopters arriving in Ghor province carrying Taliban officials. However, independent confirmation of the identities of those aboard or the reasons for their relocation has not been officially provided.
Reports also suggest that in previous instances, some Taliban figures relocated to Bamyan Province and Daykundi Province amid similar security concerns.
The developments come at a time of heightened tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan over cross-border security issues and militant activity along the frontier. Officials on both sides have not yet issued formal statements regarding the latest reports.
