Damascus, Syria – Web Desk: Syrian President Ahmed Al-Shara has expressed his country’s full support for Lebanon’s efforts to disarm the armed group Hezbollah, amid escalating tensions in the region.
According to French news agencies, Al-Shara conveyed his backing to Lebanese President Joseph Aoun during a video conference with European leaders, affirming that Damascus stands with Beirut in promoting national security and stability.
The Syrian president also announced that Syria has strengthened its defensive forces along the border with Lebanon to prevent any spillover of conflict onto Syrian territory. He stressed that the deployments aim to stop cross-border militant activities and ensure that Syrian land is not used for military operations.
Earlier, President Aoun warned that Hezbollah’s rocket attacks against Israel have pushed Lebanon toward potential destruction, noting that the group’s aggressive actions could drag the country into a full-scale war with severe consequences for the entire nation.
Al-Shara’s remarks signal a coordinated stance between Damascus and Beirut in containing Hezbollah’s military influence while managing rising tensions across the Middle East.
