Sindh Minister Questions Federal Ministers’ Anti-Provincial Statements

Date:

Karachi, Pakistan – Web Desk: Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon has called on the federal government to clarify why two of its ministers appear engaged in propaganda against the provincial government.

Responding to a press conference by MQM-P leaders, Memon criticized statements made by Federal Ministers Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and Mustafa Kamal, saying their remarks reflect ignorance and a lack of constitutional knowledge.

Memon questioned whether these statements reflect official federal policy, urging the central government to explain its position. He emphasized that the Governor House should not serve as a center for political confrontation against the provincial administration.

Speaking in Karachi, Memon highlighted the need for cooperation between federal and provincial authorities, noting that Pakistan is already facing significant political and economic challenges. “Creating tensions between the federation and provinces is unwise at this critical time,” he said.

The MQM-P press conference had accused the Sindh Assembly of approving resolutions in violation of the constitution, asserting that the PPP has acted under fear. MQM-P Chairman Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui also reiterated that the dream of a separate “Sindhudesh” would never materialize under their watch. He cited Articles 239, 140-A, and 48 of the Constitution, highlighting the legal framework for local government empowerment, new provinces, and referendums.
