Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad Warns Iran–Israel War Could Spread

Date:

(Web Desk) – Former interior minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad has warned that the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel could escalate further, urging Pakistan to remain vigilant amid rising regional tensions.

Speaking to reporters outside an anti-terrorism court during a hearing related to the GHQ attack case, Rasheed said the war could expand and potentially affect neighbouring countries. He stressed the need for heightened security measures within Pakistan.

Rasheed also alleged that militants from Afghanistan could attempt to enter Pakistan and carry out attacks, calling for increased surveillance around sensitive locations, including schools and mosques. He did not provide evidence for the claim.

Referring to the reported death of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, Rasheed described it as a loss for the Muslim world and accused the United States and Israel of involvement, without offering substantiation.

Beyond security concerns, the former minister highlighted domestic economic hardships, saying inflation and declining consumer activity have made life increasingly difficult for low-income citizens. He noted weak business activity during the Ramadan and Eid season, reflecting broader economic pressures.

The remarks come at a time of heightened geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and ongoing security concerns within Pakistan.
