Shark attack in western Australia kills fisherman near Albany

Perth, Australia – Web Desk: A man has been killed after a shark attack off the coast of Western Australia, police and local authorities confirmed.

The incident occurred near Miclémas Island, close to Albany, approximately 388 kilometres south of Perth, where the victim was fishing with his family.

According to reports, the shark attacked the man during fishing activities, leaving him critically injured. He was brought back to shore, where paramedics attempted emergency treatment, but he succumbed to his injuries.

Authorities said the incident adds to a concerning rise in shark attacks in the region, with three fatalities reported in the past three weeks.

Emergency services have increased monitoring in nearby coastal waters following the attack.
