Shan Masood: No Revenge Agenda Ahead of Bangladesh Test

Date:

Mirpur, Dhaka, Bangladesh – Web Desk: Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood has clarified that his side is not approaching the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh with any sense of revenge, stressing that the focus remains on playing competitive and disciplined cricket.

Speaking at a pre-match press conference in Mirpur ahead of the first Test, Shan Masood acknowledged Bangladesh’s strong performance during their 2024 tour of Pakistan and praised the opposition’s improvement in red-ball cricket.

“We are not here for revenge,” Shan Masood said. “We respect every opponent and will try to play good cricket and aim for victory.”

Responding to questions about Babar Azam, Shan Masood described him as Pakistan’s finest batter in history, highlighting his consistency and large volume of runs across formats. He expressed hope that Babar would carry his recent domestic form into Test cricket as well.

Shan also emphasized that conditions in Bangladesh are not unfamiliar, noting Pakistan’s experience playing on similar “green pitches” in recent tours to Australia, South Africa, and even in home conditions designed to prepare seam-friendly surfaces.

He further underlined the importance of fast bowlers in Test cricket, stating that winning matches depends heavily on taking all 20 wickets. According to him, disciplined bowling attacks remain the key to success in longer formats.
