(Web Desk) – At least seven people were killed when a small private aircraft crashed during an emergency landing attempt in central Mexico.
According to local authorities, the aircraft, which was carrying eight passengers and two crew members, had taken off from the Pacific coastal city of Acapulco before encountering difficulties mid-flight.
The local authorities said the pilot attempted an emergency landing on a football ground.
During the landing attempt, the plane veered off course and crashed into a warehouse, triggering a fire that engulfed the aircraft.
Emergency services rushed to the scene, but several occupants could not be saved.
Video footage of the crash, showing the aircraft descending rapidly before impact, has since circulated on social media.
Authorities said an investigation had been launched to determine the cause of the crash and to confirm the identities of those on board.
