Karachi, Pakistan – Web Desk: The Senate Standing Committee on Finance convened under Senator Saleem Mandviwala’s chairmanship to discuss key tax matters, including FBR tax SMS notifications, super tax implications, and ongoing reforms.

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, FBR Chairman, SBP Governor, and senior officials attended the meeting. The FBR clarified that tax-related SMS alerts are confidential and limited to respective filers, contributing to higher compliance rates.

Super tax issues were debated, with concerns over the burden on businesses and citizens. Minister Aurangzeb assured that upcoming committee briefings will provide detailed updates on tax reforms, technological interventions, and budgetary measures.

Officials highlighted delays in the Audit Information Management System and Pakistan Mint projects, promising completion by June 2026. Finance authorities also reported PKR 1.5 billion utilized from the development budget this fiscal year.

The committee emphasized timely document provision for effective oversight and stressed ongoing transparency in financial governance.
