The security situation in the Strait of Hormuz has deteriorated further despite a slight increase in commercial shipping traffic, according to shipping data monitor Kpler.
Dubai, United Arab Emirates – Web Desk: Kpler reported that 21 vessel transits were monitored through the strategic waterway, with the majority consisting of commercial ships transporting crude oil, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), methanol, and iron ore.
However, the company said the overall security environment has worsened after three additional attacks off the coast of Oman were verified. According to Kpler, the total number of confirmed maritime security incidents has risen to 56, with 17 seafarers reported killed.
The report also noted that no vessels were observed using Omani maritime routes, suggesting declining confidence in that corridor. Instead, shipping traffic has increasingly favored Iranian-approved navigation routes.
Kpler said that while the Strait of Hormuz remains open to navigation, the operational environment is becoming increasingly complex and unstable as regional tensions continue to affect one of the world’s most critical energy shipping lanes.
