Schools, colleges to remain closed in Sindh on August 4

The Sindh government has announced a public holiday on August 4, with schools, colleges and government offices to remain closed in observance of the Urs of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai.

KARACHI, Pakistan — WEB DESK: The Government of Sindh has announced a public holiday on Monday, August 4, under which schools, colleges and government offices across the province will remain closed.

The holiday has been declared to mark the annual Urs of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai, one of Sindh’s most revered Sufi saints and poets.

Official notification issued

According to an official notification issued by the provincial government, all educational institutions operating under the Sindh government, along with provincial government offices, will observe the public holiday.

Officials said normal activities will resume following the holiday unless a separate notification is issued.

Urs celebrations

Thousands of devotees from across Pakistan are expected to gather at the Shrine of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai in Bhit Shah to participate in religious ceremonies, prayers and cultural events held during the annual Urs celebrations.

The event commemorates the life and teachings of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai, whose poetry continues to influence Sindhi literature and Sufi traditions.

Public advised to follow official updates

Authorities have advised citizens, students and parents to follow official notifications issued by the provincial government and their respective educational institutions regarding any administrative arrangements linked to the holiday.
