Veteran Bollywood screenwriter Salim Khan, father of actor Salman Khan, has been placed on a ventilator after his health deteriorated due to high blood pressure, Indian media reported.

Doctors said blood vessels on the right side of his brain ruptured, and surgery is likely to be performed today. He was admitted to Lilavati Hospital’s emergency department around 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday and later shifted to the intensive care unit as his condition worsened. Officials said his condition stabilised slightly after ICU treatment.

Salim Khan is one of India’s most influential screenwriters and was part of the iconic writing duo Salim–Javed, which penned blockbuster films such as Sholay, Zanjeer, Haathi Mere Saathi, and Mr India.

He celebrated his 90th birthday on November 24, 2025. Fans and social media users are expressing prayers and support for his speedy recovery.
