Moscow, Russia – Web Desk: Russian President Vladimir Putin has offered to mediate in the Middle East amid escalating tensions, following a phone call with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, according to official statements.
As reported by Al Arabiya, Putin expressed readiness to play an active role in reducing regional tensions and facilitating dialogue aimed at restoring stability.
The Kremlin said Putin emphasized the importance of pursuing a political and diplomatic resolution to ongoing conflicts and reaffirmed Russia’s willingness to assist in mediation efforts to achieve a “fair and lasting peace” in the Middle East.
The development comes after marathon talks between the United States and Iran held in Islamabad concluded without a final agreement, raising concerns about prolonged instability in the region.
Global leaders have since urged both Washington and Tehran to continue diplomatic engagement. Pakistan has also called for maintaining the ceasefire, with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar stressing the need for both sides to uphold their commitments.
Meanwhile, U.S. Vice President JD Vance stated during a press briefing in Islamabad that the negotiations did not reach a conclusive outcome. He said Washington had presented what it described as a “final offer,” but Iran did not accept the terms.
Vance also thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and military leadership for hosting the talks and facilitating dialogue efforts.
Analysts say Russia’s mediation offer could reshape diplomatic dynamics in the region, as major global powers seek to prevent further escalation and stabilize critical energy routes.
