Sindh Minister Sharjeel Memon accuses PTI of violence and protocol violations during Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM Sohail Afridi’s Karachi visit.
Sindh’s senior minister Sharjeel Memon on Tuesday accused Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) of attempting to repeat a May 9-style incident in Karachi during KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi’s recent visit.
Memon claimed PTI supporters engaged in stone-pelting against police, vandalised media vehicles, and attacked journalists, including women reporters. He added that several police officers sustained injuries during the unrest.
Despite receiving a prior security threat and briefing the KP government, Memon alleged the CM ignored designated routes in District South, causing major traffic disruptions. He stated that the Sindh government had provided full security support in Hyderabad but PTI failed to follow the approved arrangements.
Sharjeel Memon also criticised PTI for announcing a rally outside the permitted Bagh-e-Jinnah area, citing it as evidence of ulterior motives and divisive political tactics.
The Sindh minister emphasised that the provincial administration exercised restraint and did not file cases against PTI’s provincial leadership despite the violations.
