London, United Kingdom – Web Desk: Prince Andrew, the younger brother of King Charles, was released by UK police after several hours of questioning over allegations of misconduct in office linked to the late American financier Jeffrey Epstein.
The 66-year-old Duke of York was taken into custody on suspicion of sending classified government documents to Epstein during his tenure as a trade representative. Following a multi-hour interview on Thursday, he was released “under further investigation,” police said.
Thames Valley Police emphasized that an arrest does not imply guilt but reflects reasonable suspicion to conduct inquiries.
King Charles issued a statement underscoring that the rule of law must take its course and confirmed that the royal family would fully cooperate with authorities.
Prince Andrew, who previously stepped back from all official royal duties due to his past association with Epstein, continues to deny any wrongdoing. Recent disclosures from U.S. authorities released millions of pages of Epstein-related documents mentioning Andrew’s name.
Authorities stressed that the current investigation concerns potential abuse of office and is not linked to sexual misconduct allegations. If formally charged and convicted, Andrew could face life imprisonment under UK law. Investigations are ongoing.
