President Zardari Calls Key Meeting Amid Middle East Tensions

Date:

Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: President Asif Ali Zardari has convened a high-level meeting at the Presidential Secretariat today to review the escalating tensions in the Middle East. The session is expected to be attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, senior federal ministers, top military leadership, and provincial chief ministers.

Sources indicate that the agenda will include a detailed assessment of the ongoing developments between Iran, the United States, and Israel, as well as the impact of attacks on Gulf countries. Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will brief participants on the recent four-nation foreign ministers’ meeting.

The meeting will also examine Pakistan’s petroleum reserves, supply chain readiness, and energy security measures, alongside the implementation of austerity policies across government departments. Officials will be briefed on potential smart lockdown measures and other emergency responses, with provincial proposals on such measures also under discussion.

Additionally, authorities are expected to make key decisions regarding subsidies for motorcycle and rickshaw drivers to mitigate the economic impact on low-income groups amid rising fuel prices. The session underscores Pakistan’s efforts to balance domestic energy needs with regional diplomatic and security developments.
