Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: President Asif Ali Zardari has emphasized that the Constitution of Pakistan 1973 is a symbol of national unity and the cornerstone for building a strong and stable democracy.
In his message on Constitution Day, he stated that the 1973 Constitution was the result of extensive consultation and consensus, adding that its unanimous adoption remains its greatest strength.
Zardari noted that despite numerous challenges, the Constitution has ensured continuity of the state and provided a solid foundation for the stability and restoration of institutions.
He paid tribute to Zulfikar Ali Bhutto as the principal architect of the Constitution, while acknowledging the role of Benazir Bhutto in the restoration of democracy.
The president also highlighted the importance of the Charter of Democracy in strengthening democratic governance, noting that the Constitution defines the functioning of courts, educational institutions, and administrative systems.
He stressed that the true significance of the Constitution lies in its sincere implementation, ensuring the protection of citizens’ rights. “The people are the true custodians of their destiny,” he added.
Zardari concluded that strict adherence to the Constitution is essential for a robust democratic system and long-term national stability.
