GILGIT – Web Desk: The process of government formation in Gilgit-Baltistan has reached a critical juncture, with initial political coordination emerging among major parties of the federal government, according to sources.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari held discussions on the political situation in Gilgit-Baltistan, agreeing that the party securing the highest number of seats in the assembly should be given the opportunity to form the government. Both leaders agreed on the principle that the single largest party should have the right to form the government, further strengthening the PPP’s position.
According to unofficial and incomplete results of the GB Assembly elections, the PPP is leading with 10 seats, independent candidates have won 7 seats, and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has 6 seats. The 24-member house requires 13 seats to form a government, making the role of independent candidates decisive in the coming days.
