PPP, PML-N Withdraw from AJK Coalition Government Amid Political Realignment

Date:

MUZAFFARABAD: A major political shift is underway in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) as the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) have decided to part ways with the coalition government.

In a meeting of PPP’s parliamentary party and core committee, members unanimously passed a resolution to exit the government. The party is now considering three candidates for the Prime Minister’s post: Chaudhry Muhammad Yaseen, Haji Muhammad Yaqub, and Chaudhry Latif Akbar.

Meanwhile, PML-N leader Shah Ghulam Qadir stated that his party prefers to sit in the opposition rather than continue in the current setup. However, he noted that the final decision rests with the central leadership.

The existing coalition government in AJK comprises PPP, PML-N, Jammu and Kashmir People’s Party, and the Muslim Conference. The departure of two major parties signals a potential reshuffling of political alliances and leadership in the region.
