Algiers, Algeria – Web Desk: Catholic leader Pope Leo has responded to criticism from U.S. President Donald Trump, reaffirming his commitment to speak out against war and promote peace.
The remarks come after Trump described the Pope as “weak and dangerous” over his anti-war statements and criticized his stance on crime and foreign policy.
Speaking to journalists aboard a special flight to Algiers, Pope Leo said he would continue raising his voice against conflict, regardless of criticism. He emphasized that he did not wish to engage in a personal dispute with the U.S. president.
“I will continue to speak against war, for peace, dialogue, and multilateral cooperation between nations,” the Pope said, according to international media reports.
He added that too many innocent lives are being lost in conflicts worldwide and stressed the need for global leaders to pursue alternative, peaceful solutions.
The exchange highlights a growing divide between political and religious perspectives on global conflicts, particularly amid heightened tensions in the Middle East.
