Lahore, Pakistan – Web Desk: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif departed for a four-day official visit to China aimed at strengthening bilateral ties, expanding economic cooperation, and accelerating projects under the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja, and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi are accompanying the premier during the visit.
The first phase of the visit will take place in Hangzhou, where the prime minister is scheduled to meet the Communist Party Secretary of Zhejiang Province and attend a business forum focused on enhancing cooperation between Pakistani and Chinese companies under CPEC Phase-II.
The forum will also include the signing and exchange of agreements and memorandums of understanding aimed at boosting trade, investment, industrial collaboration, and technological partnerships between the two countries.
During his stay in China, Shehbaz Sharif is also expected to hold meetings with chief executives of leading Chinese companies, visit the headquarters of Alibaba Group, and tour the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences.
Following the Hangzhou engagements, the prime minister will travel to Beijing for high-level meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Chinese Premier Li Qiang.
The prime minister will also attend a special ceremony marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China.
Officials say the visit is expected to open new avenues of cooperation between Islamabad and Beijing, particularly in areas linked to CPEC Phase-II, infrastructure development, technology transfer, agriculture, and industrial investment.
