Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to Chinese investors, stating that the security of Chinese nationals working in Pakistan remains the government’s “highest priority” and assuring them of “comprehensive protection.”
$440 Million Pharma Agreements
Addressing the Pakistan-China Pharmaceutical Business-to-Business Conference, the Prime Minister hailed the signing of nine agreements worth approximately $440 million between Pakistani and Chinese private enterprises in the pharmaceutical sector. He described the development as a major step toward strengthening bilateral economic cooperation and advancing CPEC 2.0.
The Prime Minister expressed confidence that the agreements would boost investment in pharmaceutical manufacturing, vaccines, and research and development, helping Pakistan emerge as a regional centre for the production and export of life-saving medicines.
Ease of Doing Business
PM Shehbaz directed authorities to expedite implementation of the government’s policy initiatives and the Ease of Doing Business Act, 2025. He instructed that third-party validation by international organizations be ensured to assess effectiveness.
Authorities briefed the meeting that 558 reforms have been completed to reduce regulatory requirements, with 71 already implemented. These reforms are expected to generate estimated savings of Rs468.7 billion for the business community by reducing compliance costs.
URAAN Scholars Program
The Prime Minister also met with participants of the URAAN Overseas Pakistan Summer Scholars Program, urging them to utilize their education and global experience for Pakistan’s development and prosperity.
