Washington – Web Desk: The Pentagon is reportedly considering redirecting military aid originally intended for Ukraine to the Middle East, as ongoing U.S. operations against Iran strain key munitions supplies, according to the Washington Post citing three sources familiar with the matter.
Weapons under consideration include air defense interceptor missiles purchased through a NATO initiative launched last year, in which partner countries procure U.S. arms for Kyiv.
The deliberation comes amid intensified U.S. strikes against Iran. Admiral Brad Cooper, head of U.S. Central Command, stated Wednesday that U.S. forces have targeted over 10,000 locations inside Iran and are on track to curtail Tehran’s ability to project power beyond its borders.
A Pentagon spokesperson told the Washington Post that the Defense Department would “ensure that U.S. forces and those of our allies and partners have what they need to fight and win.”
The Pentagon, State Department, and NATO did not immediately respond to requests for comment from Reuters. Analysts say such a move highlights the logistical pressures U.S. forces face as conflicts escalate across multiple theaters, balancing commitments in Europe with urgent needs in the Middle East.
