Pakistan’s Naval Chief Strengthens Maritime Security Ties During Strategic Visit to United States

Washington, D.C. — In a move underscoring the deepening defense partnership between Pakistan and the United States, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf concluded a high-level visit to Washington, D.C., aimed at enhancing bilateral maritime cooperation and regional security coordination.

During his visit, Admiral Ashraf held strategic meetings with senior officials from the U.S. Navy, Coast Guard, and Department of State. The discussions centered on strengthening maritime security frameworks, advancing professional military education, and expanding joint defense initiatives in the Indo-Pacific and Arabian Sea regions.

A key highlight of the visit was Admiral Ashraf’s engagement at the National Defense University, where he met with Vice Admiral Peter A. Garon, President of the institution. Their dialogue focused on mutual professional interests, including regional stability, naval training programs, and collaborative maritime operations.

Admiral Ashraf also met with Stanley L. Brown, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Political and Military Affairs at the U.S. Department of State. The meeting reaffirmed both nations’ commitment to maintaining open lines of communication and fostering strategic maritime partnerships.

In an address to U.S. scholars and think tank experts, Admiral Ashraf emphasized the Pakistan Navy’s pivotal role in countering maritime threats and promoting peace in the region. He called for enhanced multilateral cooperation to tackle emerging challenges such as piracy, trafficking, and climate-related maritime risks.

The visit is widely seen as a reaffirmation of Pakistan’s commitment to regional stability and its evolving role as a key maritime partner in the global security architecture.
