Pakistan Security Forces Kill 13 Militants in North Waziristan Operation
NORTH WAZIRISTAN, PAKISTAN — WEB DESK: Pakistani security forces killed 13 militants during an intelligence-based operation in North Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday as counterterrorism operations continued in the region.
The operation targeted militant hideouts in North Waziristan and surrounding areas after security personnel monitored the movement of suspected militants.
Forces subsequently launched targeted action against the positions, killing 13 militants during the operation.
The militants were described by Pakistani authorities as belonging to “Fitna al-Khawarij,” a term used by the state for militants associated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
The operation forms part of continuing counterterrorism activity under the government’s Azm-e-Istehkam framework, which is aimed at tackling militant networks and improving security in areas affected by terrorism.
North Waziristan has witnessed several security operations in recent days. Five militants were killed and two others injured in a separate intelligence-based operation in the district on Tuesday.
Earlier, seven militants were killed during another intelligence-based operation in the Eidak area of North Waziristan on October 2. Militant hideouts were also targeted during that operation.
The latest operations come amid persistent security challenges across parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where security personnel and law-enforcement agencies have intensified action against militant networks.
Authorities have maintained that counterterrorism operations will continue as part of efforts to dismantle militant infrastructure and restore lasting security in affected areas.
Further operational details, including the identities of those killed and whether weapons or ammunition were recovered during Wednesday’s action, were not immediately available.
