Pakistan Orders Crackdown on Fuel Hoarders Amid Supply Stability

Date:

(Web Desk – Islamabad, Pakistan) A high-level petroleum meeting chaired by Shehbaz Sharif has directed provincial authorities to launch a strict crackdown on fuel hoarders amid concerns over artificial shortages. Officials confirmed that adequate petrol reserves exist to meet national demand despite regional uncertainties.

The Ministry of Petroleum briefed participants that petroleum stocks remain sufficient for domestic requirements. The prime minister instructed provinces to seal petrol pumps involved in hoarding, cancel licences, and initiate legal proceedings against responsible parties.

Authorities were also ordered to enhance monitoring of fuel distribution through a centralized dashboard system, enabling real-time tracking of petroleum movement. This measure aims to prevent supply disruptions and ensure uninterrupted access for consumers.

The petroleum minister will visit provinces to coordinate strategies for conserving fuel and strengthening distribution networks. Officials emphasized that maintaining stable fuel availability is essential for economic activity and public convenience in Pakistan.

In a separate statement, the prime minister expressed solidarity with Türkiye and Azerbaijan following recent incidents, highlighting regional cooperation and humanitarian concern.
