Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Pakistan’s opposition alliance, Tehreek Tahafuz-e-Aain Pakistan, has announced it will continue its sit-in outside Parliament House until its demands are met, signaling escalating political tensions in the capital.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Asad Qaiser said the alliance was still consulting on its next course of action but had decided to maintain the protest until authorities allow the party’s founding chairman to meet his personal physician. He also demanded that party leaders and family members be granted access to the detained former prime minister.
Following the alliance’s decision, opposition lawmakers resumed their sit-in outside Parliament, chanting slogans at the main entrance of the legislative complex.
During an earlier consultative meeting, members raised serious concerns over what they described as a propaganda campaign on social media and questions raised by the former prime minister’s sisters. Several lawmakers demanded clarity over whether the party would be led by Aleema Khan and the founder’s family or by the political committee.
Party members including Junaid Akbar and Shehryar Afridi said they had been staging the sit-in for three days, yet a social media campaign and statements continued against them, highlighting internal divisions within the party.
The sit-in reflects growing political uncertainty and intensifying opposition pressure on the government over political access, party leadership structure, and alleged restrictions on political engagement.
