ISLAMABAD – Web Desk: Pakistan and Iran have reaffirmed their commitment to increase bilateral trade to $10 billion, according to the 10th session of the Pakistan-Iran Joint Trade Committee held in Islamabad.
Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan said it is imperative to transform the historic brotherly relations between Pakistan and Iran into a strong economic partnership. He emphasized the need to finalize the Pakistan-Iran Free Trade Agreement soon, which would further expand trade activities between the two countries.
Khan said obstacles in border logistics, customs, and cargo movement must be removed to make the trade process easier and more efficient. He noted that establishing joint border markets and an electronic data interchange system could significantly boost bilateral trade.
The minister said the private sector in both countries is ready to promote trade, and it is the responsibility of governments to provide a favorable, stable, and reliable environment for investment and business. He expressed hope that the 10th Joint Trade Committee meeting would produce a practical roadmap to take economic cooperation between Pakistan and Iran to new heights.
