KARACHI: (Web Desk) – Pakistan’s gold reserves have reached a total value of $10.374 billion, according to the latest figures released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), reflecting a significant increase amid rising global gold prices and strengthening reserve valuations.
The central bank reported that the country holds approximately 64.76 tons of gold as part of its foreign exchange reserves. The valuation of these holdings rose by $1.279 billion during January 2026 alone, highlighting the impact of fluctuations in international commodity markets and growing investor demand for safe-haven assets such as gold.
Data from the SBP shows that Pakistan’s gold reserves have expanded by $3.5 billion during the first seven months of the current fiscal year, signaling a notable improvement in reserve valuation compared to previous periods. In June 2025, the total value of gold reserves stood at $6.84 billion, underscoring the sharp increase recorded over recent months.
According to official figures, Pakistan currently holds approximately 2,082,000 ounces of gold, equivalent to around 5.5 million tolas. Analysts note that gold plays a critical role in diversifying a country’s foreign reserves, providing a hedge against currency volatility and global economic uncertainty.
The rise in reserve valuation comes at a time when international gold prices have remained relatively strong due to geopolitical tensions, inflation concerns, and expectations surrounding global monetary policy. Central banks worldwide have increasingly turned to gold to strengthen financial stability and safeguard national reserves.
Economic experts say the increase in Pakistan’s gold reserves value could support broader macroeconomic stability by improving reserve buffers and boosting investor confidence. However, they caution that changes in global gold prices may continue to influence future valuations.
The SBP regularly publishes updates on reserve assets to enhance transparency and provide insights into the country’s external financial position.
