Date:

NEW YORK (Web Desk) – Pakistan on Thursday demanded that United Nations resolutions and human rights be respected in the occupied territories, Dunya News reported.

Speaking at an event held in connection with Kashmir Solidarity Day, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Asim Iftikhar said that the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination must be respected.

Asim Iftikhar said that the unilateral and illegal actions of August 5, 2019 had further aggravated the plight of the Kashmiri people. He said that that extrajudicial killings are taking place in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

He said that due to continuous lockdowns, educational institutions remain closed, while curfews have severely affected tourism and other sectors, leaving large numbers of people in the occupied areas in distress.

Asim Iftikhar said that education, healthcare, and social life are being adversely affected in the occupied territories.
