Pakistan Arrests Alleged TTP Facilitator in Counterterrorism Operation

Date:

Pakistani security forces have arrested an alleged facilitator linked to the banned militant group Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), according to security officials.

Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Authorities identified the suspect as Mufti Zafaryab, who, according to security sources, was accused of providing ideological and logistical support to members of the outlawed organization.

During questioning, the suspect said he had completed an eight-year Dars-e-Nizami course at Jamia Nizam-ul-Uloom in Bannu, followed by a three-year specialization in Islamic jurisprudence at Al-Markaz Al-Islami Ghoriwala.

Security officials claimed the suspect admitted to maintaining contact with an alleged TTP commander identified as Hikmat Roshan. According to investigators, the suspect allegedly issued religious opinions that were used to justify extortion activities carried out in the name of jihad.

Officials further alleged that the militant commander offered positions and financial incentives to recruit supporters.

According to security sources, the suspect expressed regret over his alleged involvement and stated during interrogation that the militant group’s ideology was inconsistent with Islamic teachings.
