United Nations / Istanbul – Web Desk: Pakistan and nine other countries have strongly condemned Israeli attacks on the Global Flotilla of Resilience, a civilian humanitarian convoy carrying aid to Gaza, according to a joint statement issued by their foreign ministers.
The signatory nations include Pakistan, Turkey, Bangladesh, Brazil, Colombia, Indonesia, Jordan, Libya, the Maldives, and Spain. The ministers issued the collective condemnation following Israeli naval actions against the flotilla in international waters.
The joint statement described the Global Flotilla of Resilience as a peaceful civilian and humanitarian initiative aimed at drawing global attention to the severe humanitarian plight of Palestinians. It condemned what it called “repeated acts of targeting civilian vessels and human rights activists.”
The foreign ministers expressed deep concern over previous Israeli operations against similar flotillas in international waters. The statement asserted that attacks on ships and the detention of activists constitute “open violations of international law.”
The 10 nations demanded that Israel immediately release all detained activists and ensure full respect for their rights and dignity. “Attacks on peaceful humanitarian activities are violations of international law and freedom of navigation,” the statement read.
The ministers called on the international community to fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities, take practical steps to ensure accountability for Israeli violations, and end impunity for such acts.
