LONDON – Web Desk: More than 100 British members of Parliament have demanded the cancellation of an Israeli real estate event scheduled in London, expressing concern that the event could promote and facilitate the sale of properties linked to Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank.
MPs from across political parties stated in their joint position that lands and properties in occupied Palestinian territories are of disputed status and should not be marketed or sold in the United Kingdom. They noted that Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank are considered controversial under international law, and such events could encourage illegal activities.
Amnesty International UK also objected to the event, stating that at a time when global concerns exist over settlement expansion and escalating violence in the West Bank, holding such an event would be inappropriate and irresponsible, potentially promoting business and financial interests tied to internationally disputed settlements.
The issue has sparked debate in political and human rights circles, with advertisements for the event offering investors the opportunity to purchase land and property in certain areas of the occupied West Bank.
