Notorious car-lifter shot dead in encounter with Karachi police

KARACHI (Web Desk) – Anti-Vehicle Lifting Cell (AVLC) personnel have gunned down a notorious car and bike lifter in an encounter in Karachi.

According to details, Korangi Anti-Vehicle Lifting Cell received secret information that accused Khalid alias Khalidi, son of Bashir, who was involved in 55 criminal cases, was present at a location in an Orangi Town area of the megacity.

The police raided the location, and during a heavy exchange of fire the accused died. Khalidi was a resident of Layyah in Punjab and was committing criminal activities in Karachi.

Police recovered a snatched Toyota Corolla and arms and ammunition from the accused’s possession. The criminal cases filed against Khalidi included forgery, vehicle theft, and weapons possession.

Khalidi had been selling stolen vehicles to his customers in different cities. Dozens of cases were registered against the accused in Karachi, Lahore, Faisalabad, and Muridke.

SSP Amjad Ahmad Shaikh said that police officials are submitting investigation details of cases to the police.
