Non-bailable arrest warrant issued for KP CM Sohail Afridi

Date:

(Web Desk) – An Islamabad local court on Wednesday issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi after he failed to appear in a case involving alleged misleading accusations against state institutions.

The case is being heard at the District and Sessions Courts, where the court ordered the arrest and production of the KP chief minister due to his continued non-appearance.

The warrant was issued after Afridi failed to comply with court summons.

The case against Sohail Afridi pertains to allegations of making misleading claims against state institutions and damaging their reputation. Authorities argue that such statements fall under offenses related to misinformation and harm to institutional credibility.

Case under PECA

The NCCIA has registered the case against the KP chief minister under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA). The registration of the case indicates that the allegations involve electronic or digital dissemination of disputed statements.

Senior Civil Judge Abbas Shah presided over the hearing in Islamabad. After issuing the non-bailable arrest warrant, the court adjourned further proceedings until February 10.

Court orders arrest

The court has directed law enforcement authorities to arrest Sohail Afridi and present him before the court at the next hearing.

Officials said further legal action will depend on the chief minister’s compliance with court orders and the outcome of subsequent proceedings.
