Abuja, Nigeria – Web Desk: Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has said that more than 13,000 terrorists have been killed across the country over the past year as security forces intensified operations against armed groups and criminal networks.
According to media reports, parts of northern Nigeria continue to face security challenges, including attacks by jihadist groups, armed bandits, and kidnappers. The violence has affected communities across several regions and remains one of the country’s most pressing security concerns.
In a televised address, President Tinubu stated that more than 13,000 terrorists had been eliminated since last year as part of ongoing counterterrorism efforts. He highlighted the government’s commitment to restoring stability and improving public safety.
In November last year, the Nigerian government declared a national security emergency in response to a surge in kidnappings, armed attacks, and violence across various parts of the country.
Nigeria has faced a prolonged insurgency since 2009, when the militant group Boko Haram launched its rebellion. The conflict has claimed tens of thousands of civilian lives and forced millions of people to flee their homes, creating one of Africa’s most significant humanitarian and security crises.
