Investigators visited the crime scene in Karachi late at night and conducted a firing test to determine whether gunshots could have been heard in nearby areas.
WEB DESK: The investigation into the murder of young businessman Mir Raza remains inconclusive, with investigators conducting a late-night visit to the suspected crime scene as part of efforts to reconstruct the events surrounding his disappearance and death.
According to investigative sources, a meeting of the investigation committee was held at Ferozabad Police Station late at night. Following the meeting, the committee visited the crime scene between approximately 3am and 4am.
Investigators conduct firing test
Sources said investigators selected the same time window because initial findings indicated that Mir Raza went missing between 3am and 4am on July 28.
During the visit, the investigation team conducted a firing test at the location to determine whether the sound of gunfire could have been heard in surrounding residential areas.
Investigators also questioned people at nearby locations, including a mosque and a nursery, as well as other individuals in the vicinity.
According to sources, none of the people questioned reported hearing the sound of gunfire during the relevant period.
Probe continues into alleged July 28 firing
Investigators are still examining whether the firing reported on July 28 actually took place at the same location.
The team is also looking into forensic evidence recovered during the investigation.
Sources said gunpowder residue was detected on both of Mir Raza’s palms. Investigators are now examining whether the residue indicates that he had fired a weapon himself.
The significance of the gunpowder findings has yet to be established, and investigators are continuing to examine the forensic evidence alongside other aspects of the case.
The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities working to establish the sequence of events surrounding Mir Raza’s disappearance and death.
