Scream VI co-star Melissa Barrera and other Hollywood stars have paid emotional tributes to actress Hayden Panettiere following her death at 36.
LOS ANGELES, US — WEB DESK: Hollywood has been mourning the death of actress Hayden Panettiere, with her Scream VI co-star Melissa Barrera among the first to publicly pay tribute following the actress’s death at the age of 36.
Barrera, who portrayed Sam Carpenter in Scream VI, shared an emotional message on Instagram Stories after news of Panettiere’s death emerged, writing, “Rest in peace sweet Hayden.”
Panettiere and Barrera appeared together in the 2023 horror film Scream VI, in which Panettiere reprised her role as Kirby Reed, a character she originally played in 2011’s Scream 4.

Tributes have continued to pour in from Panettiere’s friends, co-stars and fellow entertainers.
Actress Selma Blair expressed her grief in a series of comments on Panettiere’s final Instagram post, while 7th Heaven actress Beverley Mitchell described Panettiere as a “bright light” and expressed disbelief over the news.
Rosie O’Donnell also shared a tribute, describing herself as heartbroken, while singer JoJo called Panettiere’s death devastating.
Other stars, including Viola Davis, David Arquette, Bethany Joy Lenz and Kelly Osbourne, have also shared messages remembering the actress.
Hayden Panettiere’s final social media post
Panettiere’s final Instagram post was shared on July 27 and featured the actress smiling alongside her friend, photographer and director Randall Slavin.
Following her death, Slavin reposted the black-and-white photograph on his Instagram Stories with a brief farewell message.
Panettiere’s family has confirmed her death through her representative. No cause of death has been disclosed, and authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding her passing.
A career spanning television and film
Panettiere began working as an actress as a child and went on to become widely known for her roles in the television series Heroes and Nashville.
She gained international recognition as Claire Bennet in Heroes and later earned critical attention for her portrayal of Juliette Barnes in Nashville, a role that earned her two Golden Globe nominations.
Her film credits included Remember the Titans, Bring It On: All or Nothing and the Scream franchise.
