JAKARTA – Web Desk: A magnitude 6.7 earthquake struck Indonesia’s Sulawesi Island at approximately 11:27 AM local time, according to the Indonesian Agency for Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics.
The epicenter was located 42 kilometers southeast of Palu at a depth of 10 kilometers. The agency warned of possible aftershocks but stated there was no tsunami risk. No casualties or damage were immediately reported. Indonesia is located on the Pacific “Ring of Fire” and is home to more than 120 active volcanoes, making it one of the world’s most volcanically active countries.
