KP Dismisses 30 Doctors, Six Afghan Doctors Barred From House Jobs in Swat
PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department has dismissed 30 doctors over alleged fake Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) registrations and irregular appointments, while six Afghan doctors have been stopped from undertaking house jobs at Saidu Sharif Hospital in Swat.
The provincial health department issued a notification on October 13 confirming the removal of the 30 doctors from service. The doctors had been posted at various medical facilities across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The action relates to allegations involving fake PMDC registrations and certificates, as well as appointments described as illegal. The department’s notification formalised the decision to terminate their services.
In a separate development, six Afghan doctors at Saidu Sharif Hospital in Swat have been barred from continuing their house jobs. Hospital administration directed them to vacate their hostel accommodation and leave Pakistan immediately.
The directions were issued following a communication from the PMDC. Hospital officials said the measures were being implemented in line with instructions from the prime minister.
The developments highlight regulatory scrutiny of medical registrations, professional eligibility and appointments within the province’s healthcare system.
The dismissal of the 30 doctors and the restrictions imposed on the six Afghan doctors are separate administrative actions. Further details about the individual cases, the doctors’ responses and any available appeal procedures were not established in the information available for this report.
