Police say groom’s father involved as couple shot dead in Bhains Colony

Karachi, Pakistan – Web Desk: A newlywed couple who had entered into a court marriage just one month ago were shot dead in a firing incident in Karachi’s Bhains Colony area, police confirmed on Tuesday. A passerby was also injured in the attack.

According to police, the shooting occurred near Insaaf Kanta on Road No. 12 in Bhains Colony. Rescue officials from the Chhipa Welfare Association shifted the deceased and the injured to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.

The victims were identified as 30-year-old Sudhir Abdul Hameed and his 27-year-old wife Saima Sudhir. A 35-year-old unidentified passerby sustained injuries after being caught in the crossfire.

SHO Khalid Memon of Sukkan Police Station stated that the couple had contracted a court marriage one month earlier. Preliminary investigations suggest the involvement of Sudhir’s father, Abdul Hameed, in the fatal shooting.

Police have launched further investigations, while efforts are underway to apprehend the suspect.
