Judicial Commission Summons Chief Fire Officer in Gul Plaza Probe

Date:

Karachi, Pakistan – Web Desk: The judicial commission investigating the Gul Plaza fire incident has summoned the Chief Fire Officer and the Director General of Rescue 1122 for cross-examination following allegations made by a Civil Defense officer.

According to reports, the commission issued formal letters giving both officials the right to cross-examine statements recorded from the Civil Defense officer, who accused the fire brigade and Rescue 1122 of delays in their response during the incident.

The commission has instructed that those wishing to exercise their cross-examination rights must respond in writing by March 5. Failure to respond within the stipulated timeframe will be considered a waiver of the right to cross-examine.

This step follows growing scrutiny over emergency response coordination during the Gul Plaza tragedy, which claimed multiple lives and raised public concerns about disaster management efficiency in Karachi.
