Manam Zafar Khan slams Sindh govt’s empty announcements; major march set for Shahrah-e-Faisal
Karachi, Pakistan – Web Desk: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi chief Manam Zafar Khan has criticized the Sindh government for making a series of “paper announcements” on development projects while the city continues to face severe infrastructure and safety challenges.
Speaking at a press conference at JI’s central office, Idara Noor Haq, Khan said the provincial government, led by Murad Ali Shah and ministers Murtaza Wahab and Sharjeel Memon, has been issuing billions of rupees in development package announcements, but the reality on the ground shows no progress. Projects such as the Kareemabad Underpass, delayed since 2023, remain incomplete, while in Islamabad, three underpasses were built in just 72 days.
Khan highlighted ongoing public safety concerns, citing the Red Line project, which has already caused three fatalities. He condemned the Sindh government’s response to the Gul Plaza tragedy, pointing out delays in returning victims’ remains to families and labeling the city as one of Pakistan’s most unsafe.
He accused the PPP government of 18 years of mismanagement, corruption, and incompetence, revealing systemic failures in emergency services, civil defense, and PDMA departments.
Khan announced that on 1st February, under the leadership of Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, JI will hold the “Let Karachi Live” march on Shahrah-e-Faisal, where they will announce future plans and demand accountability from the provincial government. He also stated efforts are underway to initiate a no-confidence motion against Murtaza Wahab with support from all city council political parties.
